Sandra Olree5 August 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We enjoyed a fun evening with amazing food and wine. The host's passion for Crete and its local food and wine is contagious. Fantastic host made sure everyone had a great evening, sharing details about the wine but also some history, places to see, and even what clubs to go to. Would definitely recommend William Steenbergen31 May 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing time, the host was very knowledgable and a great host. Definitely would recommend, although would recommend to get a seat outside when that's open. Rachel Nettle25 May 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the most amazing experience at Oinoxoos House. Nektarios was so knowledgeable and took us on a fascinating journey of Cretan wines. The food was stunning and some of the best local food we experienced on the island. It was such a fun evening and a highlight of our trip to Crete! lottie brownlow14 May 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our evening at Oinoxoos was the absolute highlight of our trip. We did the 8 course menu with wine tasting and the experience from start to finish was amazing. The hospitality is incredible, the wines were chosen with care and tasted delicious and the food was absolutely top tier. It’s family run and we especially loved the Dakos and the Lamb main. I cannot recommend this gorgeous place more!! Already planning my next trip to come again - thank you for such a wonderful evening! stelios steliosf8 May 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Πολύ καλό Mike Rockland27 April 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've visited this place twice and have always savored the delicious food and wine. Whenever I'm in Crete, I love introducing new friends to this spot. Unfortunately, getting a reservation can be quite challenging as they only open when they have a full house. You can't book for a specific night; instead, you have to provide a range of available nights. This posed an issue during my last trip to Crete. Despite reaching out a month ahead and offering four nights, as requested, I never received a response from them. Thomas Bæk23 October 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nektarios and Michial made it the perfect night. Karen Lynch8 September 2023Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Booked through the website and arranged a date, when we arrived we were greeted very warmly. Hosts very knowledgeable and engaging. Wine was very good and was explained in an informative way. Food was excellent (stuffed vine leaves were fabulous). This is the best wine tasting we have done. Thank you for the experience. Karen & Tony

Selection of Our Varieties

Cretan Sparkling
A rotating selection of sparkling wines made in Crete either by traditional fermentation inside the bottle (Méthode Champenoise), or fermentation in stainless steel barrels (Charmat Method).

Vidiano
Often called “The White Diva” this grape is primarily grown in the Rethymno region of Crete, with smaller vineyards found near Heraklion. The grapes produce wines with a bright yellow-green color and a distinctive aromatic profile.

Vilana
Considered the “Queen” of white wines on the island, Vilana is primarily used to produce dry, crisp white wines, though some producers are crafting small batches of premium oak-aged versions. Mainly cultivated in Heraklion & Lasithi, the west part of Crete.

Thrapsathiri
A drought-resistant white grape cultivated all over the island, producing full-bodied wines with soft acidity and a peachy aromatic profile. Its finest versions can be found in the Heraklion & Lasithi regions.

Muscat Of Spinas
Rare and aromatic, this white variety native to Crete is named after the village of Spina. It produces intensely fragrant wines with notes of orange, jasmine, and citrus. Cultivated mainly in Chania, it is used for both dry and sweet wine styles, often showcasing excellent aging potential.

Kotsifali
An ancient red grape variety of Crete, deeply rooted in the island’s winemaking history. Its name is believed to derive from the Greek word “kotsifi,” meaning blackbird, possibly referencing the dark color of its grapes. Known for its resilience and adaptability, it produces medium-bodied wines with soft acidity.

Mandilari
Another ancient grape native to the island, It produces deeply coloured wines with high tannin levels and notable acidity. Aromas mainly of red fruits, such as cherries and plums, along with hints of leather when aged in oak barrels.

Liatiko
One more red grape that dates back to the BC era, it produces mostly sweet wines through sun-drying grapes. This is where the grape gets its name which in Greek means “exposed to the sun”.
